….to quote the Stranglers. Been doing quite a bit of rock climbing photography in Aug / Sept for the upcoming BMC Peak Limestone North guide. Here’s a couple of sample pictures of Emily climbing on Moat Buttress in lower Cheedale.

“Now how on earth does he take those shots?” you might be wondering…or not…well I’m going to tell you anyway. Good rock climbing shots usually need the subjects face in view, and ideally all 4 limbs, which means they need to be taken from above. At Moat Buttress this means fixing a rope up an adjacent route (thanks Al!) and then me jumaring up the rope to a good viewpoint (memo to self. need to get better at jumaring – that was hard work!) . Anyway, here’s a shot Al took of me in position and at work…
